Members Helping Members During Tough Times
Join in Roundtable Discussions to Help Our Members in Transition Solve their Employment Problems

It’s times like these when we all need to step up to help those in need. As you may know, some of our members are in transition and courageously seeking employment in this tough job market. The Society has put together some programs to assist our members with resume building and interviewing skills. However, we need to ask ourselves if we can do more. If your company or firm is hiring, please let us know. Even if you are not hiring, you can help by attending a roundtable discussion focused on helping our members in need. The roundtable is scheduled for Jan. 26 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. If you have ideas to share with these members in transition, please consider attending. We strongly believe your guidance, words of encouragement and feedback for these member CPAs will go a long way in helping them as they get back into the job market. If you have any questions, please contact José at (602) 324-4741. If you are an unemployed or underemployed member and would like to attend the Jan. 26 roundtable discussion, please register today.

From Business Finance
IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman wants corporate boards to turn their attention to tax risk. In remarks to the National Association of Corporate Directors, Shulman pointed out that tax strategies are a significant source of financial and restatement risk, not to mention reputational exposure. He recommends that boards set up a "mechanism to oversee tax risk as part of (their) governance process." Business Finance’s John Cummings takes a closer look. Read article
