You Are Not Weak
So Don’t Let Your Chin Tell Lies About You

In our society, chin and jaw lines are associated with strength. People with square jaws, whose chins line up evenly with the upper face, are regarded as confident and powerful. Those with receding chins are assumed to be weak.

You Could Be Struggling Unconsciously
If your genetic makeup has given you a so-called “weak chin,” you may be unconsciously struggling every day to counter this impression. The stress can take a toll on your well-being.

Rather than fight this uphill battle, why not take advantage of modern medical science and get a chin implant?

Not a Big Deal
It’s a minor procedure that takes only half an hour to an hour to complete. The result is a more prominent chin and jaw, more harmonious features, a more pleasing profile, and – best of all – new feelings of self-confidence.

The results can be dramatic – and yet the implants look very natural. Most of your friends will say you look much better, but they wont’ be able to pinpoint exactly why.

Most people comment on Angelina Jolie’s lip augmentation surgery, but her chin and jaw implants were more instrumental in transforming her looks from “pretty” to “gorgeous.”

COMBINATION PROCEDURES CAN WORK MIRACLES

Chin implants are frequently combined with Rhinoplasty (nose) surgery and Facelift surgery.

Nose Surgery
Many nasal contouring patients have receding chins that make their noses appear even more prominent. When I strengthen their jaw line, the features are harmonized in a way that can bring about a total transformation.

Facelift Surgery
Many of my patients, when they come in for a facelift, realize they’ve been struggling with a so-called “weak chin” all their lives. They ask whether I can correct the imbalance while performing their facelift.

Nothing could be easier! And the result is often the most important component in their facial rejuvenation.

HOW IT’S DONE

Chin implants have been done successfully for years. The implants come in various shapes and sizes. They are made out of both solid and semi-solid materials.

  • How is a chin augmentation performed?
I make a ¾-inch incision in the natural crease under the chin. Into the incision I place an implant of the correct size and shape to harmonize with your features.

The incision is closed with removable sutures, and the chin is taped (to minimize swelling).

  • How long does the surgery take?
The procedure generally takes between 30 and 60 minutes.

  • Will I need to stay in a hospital?
If you have no medical problems, we can perform your chin implant in our certified operating room. We use local anesthesia with light sedation.

You’ll be able to go home soon after the procedure is over. You can spend the night in the comfort of your own home.

  • What can I expect after surgery?
    • Some swelling and perhaps bruising. These will be helped by an application of tape or other material.
    • This tape is removed about 3-4 days after the surgery is performed.
    • Pain and discomfort will be eased by an oral pain medication.
    • Some facial movements, such as talking and smiling, may be difficult for several days following the surgery.
    • Most people return to work within a few days following the surgery.
    • At first you should avoid strenuous activities.
    • Exercise can be resumed in about a week.
  • What is the long-term outcome?
We usually get raves on this one. The change in one’s “look” and in the impression made on others is radical, in light of how simple and swift the procedure is.

After all -- who wouldn’t love getting rid of a feature that undermines self-confidence?
